Hey!
If you’re reading this, you’re a dear friend and/or someone in marketing I deeply respect.
You may have even given me some of your time when I did my initial round of interviews for the book that I’ve been saying I’m writing.
Three years of procrastination later, I’m making a serious commitment.
And you’re getting this email partly because I want to share this with you, but mostly because I need the accountability. (Honesty is undefeated, right?!)
I feel like I’ve been doing everything BUT write this book over the past three years.
All the research, idea development and prep has been helpful for sure, but boy is it time for me to just start writing!
If I’m being fully honest, I think I have a 50-50 shot of hitting this deadline.
It’s a serious challenge. We all know how hectic life gets. Plus I have yet to build a habit of protecting enough time to do real writing on a regular basis.
That might be the biggest thing.
But this is the week. It starts now. I’m getting words down this week.
And next week I’ll be sending out the first of my weekly updates.
I’ll share writing progress and one real nugget around this “offense vs. defense in marketing leadership” thinking.
If that sounds obnoxious to you, I will not be offended if you unsubscribe.
That said, I really do believe the weekly nugget will be useful. If nothing else, these past few years have allowed me to develop some real original thinking.
But again, I’m doing this so you can help keep me honest.
No pressure to actually hit me up about it, but if you ever feel compelled to check in with a quick nudge, diss or note of encouragement, know that it would be thoroughly appreciated.
Feels like I’m about to climb a mountain or something!
