I’ve known it for a while, but at this point I have to fully accept it.

I am NOT on track for hitting my goal. Definitely not with these numbers:

Week 11 number of words written: 101

Total number of words written to date: 5554

How I’m feeling about it: Shaky

This sucks. I know I’ll get back to some productive weeks at some point, but damn…

Here’s what saved last week for me though:

I discovered that something I believed was a relatively small part of the book needs to become a much more prominent part.

The silver lining in my busyness is that the workshops I’m running and the coaching I’m doing help certain ideas develop and crystallize.

And here’s the idea of the week (so to speak):

Executive coaches teach us that it’s all about living in alignment with our values.

That’s good.

But being clear on our values doesn’t necessarily stick under pressure, especially if the marketing leader has a fragile identity.

Values work closes the gap between what you believe and how you behave. Identity work closes the gap between who you are at your best and who shows up when it's hard.

And for most marketing leaders, it’s hard practically every day.

Which is why identity work is the most underrated work for leveling up.

Now let’s see if I can get some more words on the page about that.
