A typical non-fiction book is somewhere between 40 and 60 thousand words

How the hell am I gonna get there if I’m writing 163 words in a week?!

This simply won’t cut it:

Week 07 number of words written: 163

Total number of words written to date: 4766

How I’m feeling about it: Pathetic

After feeling reenergized last week, I’m right back down in the dumps.

But there is a bright spot:

I spent a solid hour exploring different approaches for what might be the most important chapter of the book. And I think I cracked it.

Nothing really matters unless words end up on the page, but I’m realizing some of these chapters require more “strategery” than others.

This one is about something we think is set – our identity

The truth is, though, that we all have the opportunity to update our identity at any point.

It’s one of those things nobody tells us but that makes all the difference.

In fact, intentionally updating our identity as our career advances is a requirement for continued success

Which is why is so important for me to really think through how to set up and structure the chapter.

But sheesh, now it’s time to just freakin’ write!
