Screw it though – all we can do is look forward. So that’s what we’re gonna do.
But first, the aha of the week:
What’s the unique similarity between a game-changing promotion and a potential firing?
They’re both inflection points – actual or potential – that trigger something unique inside of us.
It starts off feeling like some kind of self-prescribed skills assessment, but if we really tune in, we realize there’s something much deeper at play.
What we do – and what we get recognized for – reinforces our sense of who we are.
The person who’s rewarded for doing a particular kind of work becomes the person who does that kind of work. And that is likely a different person than the one they have to become in their new situation.
In short:
Changing the doing is much harder than we realize if we don’t also address the being.
Looks like I got some being to address too if I want to get this book written.
